Integral Education Training for Teachers

Aapka Aapse Sakshaatkar. A Meeting With Your Self.

The Integral Education Training is designed for teachers of the National Mission for Secondary Education (Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan – RMSA). Organised at district level as a 10-day program, A Meeting With Your Self sessions help teachers acknowledge the power of their profession in transforming the lives of their students, and how the nation’s progress is directly correlated with the quality of their teaching. We are talking of giving each of them a personal vision, goal and an ideal to aspire for—the fundamental requirement of generating conviction and commitment in any work. This includes understanding the aims of education, a teacher’s responsibility, how children see the world and their dreams, and why it is important to continuously develop as a teacher for personal satisfaction and the growth of the students.

Individual Excellence, in line with the teachings of Sri Aurobindo.

  • Visibly increased self-belief and accountability in educators.
  • A clearer understanding of what the Education System of today demands from them.
  • An evolved awareness of the deeper human values in oneself and in the students.
  • Creation of specific and measurable tools for effective teaching.
  • Techniques for creating a positive classroom environment.

PROJECT FOOTPRINT IN INDIA

Uttar Pradesh

Integral Education Training for teachers of the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyaan was the first-ever Rupantar project, and Uttar Pradesh was the first state to welcome this innovative concept in teachers training in April 2015. As of Dec 31, 2017, more than 24,000 teachers had attended the 3 and 5-day curriculum, with an overwhelming 98% positive feedback. “This was a turning point for most of the teachers. I have myself paid surprise visits at the training centre and when I boldly asked teachers to point out what is ‘not right’ about this training, they would repeatedly have nothing but high praises. This training brings about a permanent mind shift of positive in those who sincerely participate,” says Shri Raj Singh Yadav, District Inspector of Schools, Ghaziabad, UP.

Jharkhand

In Mar-Apr 2017, Jharkhand state, seeing the positive impact in UP, invited Sri Aurobindo Society to conduct this training for all new joiner teachers. However, instead of 3 or 5 day format, an even more in-depth training curriculum of 10-days was delivered in 22 districts of Jharkhand. In all, 1,700 teachers attended this training. A detailed outcome study shows that, among other aspect, (i) before the training, majority of teachers (62.2%) identified ‘Discipline’ as the most important quality of a teacher, but after the training 80.4% believed ‘Empathy’ is the principal quality of a teacher; and (ii) prior to the training 37.8% teachers

sometimes felt stressed in classroom environment, but after the training, only 10.6% felt so.
